“Her ability to keep things clear and sparse while constantly pushing forward results in a sense that anything could happen at any moment, be it a pregnant pause or a percussive explosion.” - Marc Masters, Bandcamp Daily
Owen Davis is a composer, percussionist, improvisor, noise artist, and co-curator of the Interference Series based in Flagstaff, AZ, USA. His work centers around noise - searching out ways to find and make it in composition, improvisation, and other performance situations.
This is the third recording released on Nonessential Records formed by the curators of the Interference Series. This recording captures some of the spirit of the series - bringing in amazing artists to Flagstaff and finding ways to interface with local artists. This recording is part of our "First Encounters" series in reference to the practice in the world of free improvisation of a performance where improvisors are literally playing together for the first time. This recording, performed live and in two segments in the studio, is true to its title.
